VMO 2017/18 Spring Concert

VMO 2017/18 Spring Concert

Every year, the Vancouver Metropolitan Orchestra holds the Morihiro Okabe Kinen Spring Concert in honour of one of their fellow musicians and teachers.

The theme for 2018 features a Vancouver’s cityscape surrounded by instruments, all enclosed around a large letter “V” to represent Vancouver in “VMO”. The coloured elements are a bright teal-green to represent the nature surrounding Vancouver, and the bright red-pink is a contrasting colour pop that represents the bright colours of spring. The pinkish colour represents the cherry blossoms that bloom around the time of the concert and contrasts well with the teal-green. The bright, white clouds are meant to be opening up the views of the city to represent the welcoming of spring, as well as accentuate the vast, open sounds of the orchestra.
